Farm Spotlight - Jalisco Jojoba

Farm Spotlight - Jalisco Jojoba

Meet our new jojoba farm partners–Jalisco Jojoba.

Daniel and Apolonia Gutierrez have been farming jojoba in the Sonoran Desert of southwest Arizona since 1979 and were early adopters of drip irrigation back when flooding fields with water was still the norm. That commitment to water conservation and to sustainability has remained a core part of the Gutierrez family’s farming ethos, and just this year they celebrated becoming the world’s very first jojoba oil farm to earn a Regenerative Organic Certification!

As a skincare formulator, sourcing ingredients is probably one of the most important things that I do. It’s the vital yet unseen part of crafting the highest quality products that I possibly can. By working with farms like Jalisco Jojoba and people like the Gutierrez family, who are passionate about crafting their jojoba oil ethically and sustainably, I can ensure that I am only using safe and nourishing ingredients to keep your skin happy and healthy.

On a personal note, I used to live in Tucson, AZ, right in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. It’s the most biodiverse desert in the entire world and is truly a magical place that deserves our awe and respect. I’m a huge nature nerd, and I have such great memories of birding in the Hauchuca Mountains or tracking reptiles after a monsoon rain with the smell of creosote filling the air or humbling myself before sunsets of scarlet and ochre and violet. It’s a remarkable and fragile part of this world, and the work that farmers like the Gutierrez family are doing to preserve their ecological heritage is vitally important.

So to the entire Gutierrez family and to Jalisco Jojoba we doff our hats to you! Thank you so much for all of your hard work and for your amazing oils!
